This Friday, February 4th, is World Cancer Day. This disease has left around 2021 diagnosed cases in Spain in 276.200, a figure that, according to studies, will increase this year. The goal is to raise awareness and mobilize society to advance prevention and control.
"A disease characterized by the transformation of cells, which proliferate abnormally and uncontrollably," is how the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) defines it. How many times have we heard about this unfortunate disease? On television, on social media, on the street...surely almost 100% of the people we ask would hear about it. they know someone close who is suffering or has suffered from cancer. This year, the global cancer community commemorates the World Cancer Day, on February 4, with the motto "Closing the care gap."
This campaign, which will last three years and will run from 2022 to 2024, aims to put the spotlight on the problem of inequalities in cancer care around the world. Currently, many people face unacceptable barriers to accessing optimal cancer care, ranging from income level, education, and geographic location to discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, or age. Therefore, we want to close this gap.
Increase in numbers in 2022
