back pain hernia

Editorial Vere Álvarez N

After undergoing non-invasive microsurgery, you must be careful with the treatment: keep the small incision clean to avoid any type of infection and thus leave it in excellent condition.

A patient who passes through operating room, seeks no other outcome than to improve their quality of life. In this process, we always talk about preoperative, surgical intervention, and postoperative. The latter, as important as the previous two, requires a healthy diet and lifestyle, requires wound care for a certain period of time. The technique that our neurosurgeon Bernardo Mosqueira uses thanks to his surgical microscope (noninvasive microsurgery) does not require the placement of plates or screws so The incision made on the patient's back does not exceed 4 centimeters..

The cut made in the external tissues of the body with a scalpel or other instrument requires a specific care after undergoing surgery and being discharged, so from Dr. Mosqueira clinic, although each patient is explained in detail, we want to make known the steps to best heal the wound and thus achieve effective healing:

  1. Find a clean place to do the cure: It is important to perform it in a clean and purified place, away from all types of impurities that could negatively affect the surface of the wound.
  2. Hand hygiene: wash them at least twice before applying the cure to further prevent any type of infection.
  3. Avoid direct contact with the wound: Put on glovesThis will allow us to be more careful when handling products.
  4. Take sterile gauze and add chlorhexidine (an antiseptic substance) directly onto the wound. When treating it, it's important to dab gently, avoiding rubbing the area.
  5. Repeat the process indicated (in point 4) at least twice during the same cure.
  6. Drying the wound with a sterile gauze and nothing.
  7. Put a dressing covering the affected area to prevent the presence of harmful microbes such as bacteria. This would impede healing and increase the risk of scarring.
  8. Apply this cure once a day for 15 – 21 days depending on the evolution of the wound.

Once these steps are taken, the wound will heal in the best possible way without leaving any problems. As the days go by, the scar, being a small incision, will barely be visible after good care. Our director and coordinator, Sonia Peña, and our Dr. Mosqueira, encourage patients to perform this process daily to avoid infections. Thus, with healthy lifestyle habits, they won't have to worry about anything, just enjoy their daily lives as they deserve.
